City paving projects which were scheduled in the fall and postponed due to weather, are now tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, April 14. Haylock Paving has been contracted by the City for the repaving of locations listed here; this paving is also weather dependent and subject to change. Outside of regular construction hours (usually 7 am to 6 pm), property access will be maintained.  Appropriately timed pavement surface treatments such as overlays can help extend the life of the entire payment structure to better align with underlying utilities, improve the overall condition, safety and road experience while optimizing costs to the City. This work is intended to rehabilitate and improve the existing pavement. Temple Street – April 14-15 Temple Street in the vicinity of Field Crescent with single lane alternating for vehicles.  Stanhope Road – April 16-17 Stanhope Road at east end with single lane alternating for vehicles. Alberni Highway – April 22-25 Alberni Highway between Despard Avenue West and Jensen Avenue West will be closed for paving with detour for vehicles from 7 am to 6 pm daily. Detour routes will be available on Moilliet Street or Despard Avenue West to Craig Street.  Alberni Highway – April 28-May 2 Alberni Highway between Despard Avenue West and Jensen Avenue West will be single lane alternating for vehicles during shouldering and line painting work.  Residents affected by the work will be notified when paving is scheduled in their area. Please ensure vehicles are not parked or obstructing the road during paving. During construction, vehicular traffic may experience minor delays and congestion. Minor delays, single lane alternating traffic and detour will occur during this project. To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, traffic control personnel will be present on-site. Follow instructions and observe construction signs. Questions should be directed to engineering@parksville.ca or 250 951-2484. |
