PV – Sidewalk Replacement

For the information of our residents, we wish to advise of a planned sidewalk replacement along 198 Island Highway East. This work will necessitate the removal of four street trees along the Weld Street side of the property. The four maples which have been assessed by an arborist, continue to create issues for the sidewalk surface as well as problems with underground utilities. Removal of the trees will be completed by a City contractor on Tuesday, April 1 and temporary closure of two or three parking spots on Weld Street will be required when work is underway. Access will be monitored to ensure the safety of pedestrians in the area.  The City’s intention is to replace the trees with an appropriate tree which does not affect existing underground utilities.
